NEW PVP Pirate Faction Frigate Fits for the Kronos Expansion

0

The Kronos Expansion was released earlier this month and part of that change was a re-balance of the Pirate Faction Ships. Many of these ships have long gone unused because of their strange bonuses and poor fitting stats.

Ships like the Cruor and Succubus were largely ignored by most people because in practice they were virtually useless. Because of this CCP decided to Buff them so they could compete at the level of the Dramiel and Daredevil.

I have covered the Dramiel already in the Frigate PRO Guide and both it and the Daredevil were pretty much unchanged this expansion, so I will leave them out.

Note: All of these fits are shown WITHOUT Implants, Drugs, or Links. Adding them would naturally improve performance.

The WORM

Along with all the other Guristas Ships the Worm got a specialized Drone Bonus. This gives the worm a 300% Bonus to Light Drone Damage and Hitpoints making it a Drone Monster. The Catch however is that you can only put out 2 Light Drones at a time. Still, that bonus allows you to do very serious and very flexible DPS.

This first fitting like many of the fits I came up with is geared toward FW (Faction Warfare) fighting. The reason for this is because Frigate PVP is currently the most healthy in FW. I personally prefer roaming Null in a Frigate, but FW delivers more fights, and a set of rules that can be exploited to make fights more predictable and less blobby.

Your primary DPS is from Drones which are virtually range independent, supplemented by Rockets which work very well in scram range. You Tank is better than most frigs, however you have no reason to be up close (under 5km) therefore it is best to Scram Kite (Kite within Scram Range) by Scramming your target and attempting to stay at around 7km.

Your speed isn’t the greatest and you lack a web so be careful about people escaping, or a very high DPS ship getting right on top of you (Gank Algos for example).

Flexibility and very nasty drones make this a ship that will win most 1vs1 frigate fights you find, however, it may be difficult to get someone to fight you on purpose.

Faction Warfare – PVP Federation Navy Comet Fittings and Tactics

1

If you watched my most recent PVP video The Night Walker then you saw me using the Comet to get some super cool fights.

But just watching doesn’t tell the whole story so before I release the narrated version of that video I wanted to do an article about the Fitting and Tactics I used.

Fitting:

Federation Navy Comet - FW Kiter 400

Damage Control II
400mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I

1MN Afterburner II
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
Warp Scrambler II

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I

Hobgoblin II x3
Warrior II x2
Warrior II x1

This is a “Kite within Scram Range” Fitting. In the past a fit like this would be rare, but it’s becoming more and more popular to use this tactic in FW (Faction Warfare) because it is so effective.

Just a year ago, you would have been much more likely to see a Kiting Comet with Railguns, MWD, and Long Point that orbited out at around 15-20km. Or perhaps the Blaster Version that’s basically just a slightly better Taranis.

Kiting Inside Scram Range means you scram your opponent, then attempt to keep him near the edge of scram range (between 5km and 8 km usually). The Comet is built to operate best at …Read More…

Core Skills: Using EFT to “Simulate” Fights with DPS Graph

0

“To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy.”
-Sun Tzu

In this short video you will learn how to use EFT’s DPS Graph Feature to simulate fights between two different ships. Doing this allows you to learn more about the capabilities of your ship and chosen fitting. The more you know about what your ship can and can’t handle, the more effective you will be at using it.

The two ships I used in this “Simulation” are the Tornado and the Thorax. This is an ideal fight for the Tornado if the pilot executes well which is shown in the video. Should the Thorax get a Scram, the Tornado is toast.

Another topic I cover in this video is leadership and command links. As part of this example I show you how big a difference an off grid Linky Loki can make. This shows how to apply leadership skills and bonuses to your EFT stats.
